We started singing in the spring of 2007.
We are a group of mixed a cappella chorus; some are friends from schools and workplaces and their friends gathered on various occasions and started singing.
We named ourselves “Amphora”.
Amphora is a ceramic pot that was used to carry wine and olive oil in Mediterranean trading more than 2000 years ago. Polyphony (polyphonic music) of various forms has been sung in Southern Europe, the Eastern Europe region where this vase once came, and still forms a variety of music world which is different from Western classical music. We named ourselves Amphora from the origin of this pot, with the desire to enjoy various kinds of music of chorus from the ancient and across the world of east and west.
